If you read last week’s Three Thoughts for Thursday, you will know that my mother passed away last month a few weeks before her 98th birthday. This week has been spent celebrating her and a life well lived.
As my son reminded us, Calvin Coolidge was the President of the United States when mom was born in 1927. She lived through the Great Depression, World War II and wars in Korea and Vietnam. In addition to her own parents, and two of her three siblings, she buried her husband and an adult daughter.
Despite the adversities that life threw her way, she ALWAYS had a positive “glass half full” outlook on life, which enabled her to be a source of constant encouragement to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.
Much of this was captured in the Celebration of Life Service held Tuesday, August 5th, the day before what would have been her 98th birthday.
For those of you who knew my mom (or are a bit curious about this remarkable woman), I’ve included the link to her memorial service below. I hope it encourages you as it did her family and friends who were able to participate in person.
