Years ago, I was introduced to the concept of a daily quiet time with the Lord. Like many people I know, I had long aspired to spend more time in quiet reflection, prayer and meditation but had never developed the discipline to do so with any degree of regularity.
To be totally honest, over the years, even with the best of intentions, the quality of my daily quiet time has ebbed and flowed.
There were periods of time (several years) where I was active at journaling daily. There was also a season during which I became “hooked” on Oswald Chamber’s powerful daily devotional, My Utmost for His Highest. Not long ago my wife and I were introduced to Sarah Young’s Jesus Calling which also provides us with wonderful insight and great inspiration at the start of each day.
Recently a friend of mine, Chris Bolinger published a daily devotional entitled Daily Strength for Men that has sold over 25,000 copies.
If you’re looking for a tool to help you jump start your daily quiet time or know a man you’d like to encourage to do so, please see this week’s book recommendation for additional information.
