Obedience and Faith

I recently began a yearlong study to become a Fellow with the  C. S. Lewis Institute. The intensive program includes considerable reading, writing and reflecting on wide variety of topics involving one’s faith journey.
I consider myself a lifetime learner. As such, even though the requirements to complete the program are very demanding, the structure of assignments that need to be completed on a timely basis is appealing to me. Â
Additionally, the program includes being mentored by someone who has already completed the program and is a C. S. Lewis Institute Fellow. This had particular appeal since I’ve always appreciated mentors in my life.
Each month the program focuses on a specific topic. This month’s topic included a considerable amount of discussion on the connection between faith and obedience. Â
One of the interesting parts of this exercise for me has been the intensive amount of time that the Fellows Program has caused me to spend on topics that I may have only given cursory attention to in the past. Â
Suffice to say that through my studies over the past 30 days, I’ve spent more time reflecting on and trying to understand the relationship between obedience and faith than I have in the past 30 years, which has contributed significantly to the richness of this experience.
It is not my place today to lecture on this topic but rather challenge you to explore the relationship between obedience and faith as you pursue your own faith journey. Â
The C. S. Lewis Institute is just one of the many organizations that can come alongside you if you’re interested in finding some structure for your journey. You can learn more about them through the following link: C.S. Lewis Institute - C.S. Lewis Institute .
