Van Gogh in Bloom

Writer: Leigh GerstenbergerLeigh Gerstenberger

While it has been said that “Art Imitates Life” after visiting the exhibit “Van Gogh in Bloom” at the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Pittsburgh recently, it can also be said that “horticulture can imitate art”.

While Phipps is a Pittsburgh treasure nothing could have prepared me for the stunning nature of this exhibit which runs through October 9, 2019.

If you are in the area between now and then make sure to visit the conservatory and see for yourself how each room in the gardens has been transformed into replicating a well known Van Gogh painting which is also on display for comparison purposes.

One example of this is the Van Gogh self portrait on display at the entrance to the exhibit which is “painted” with flowers.

If you’re unable to make it to the show, or just want a preview of the exhibit, the attached link will take you there. Enjoy
